Yowe (Dyuwe), c. 1940-
One of the youngest members of the Waorani attack on Palm Beach, Yowe (Dyuwe) was also part of the Guiquetairi kinship group. After Dayuma, Elisabeth Elliot, Rachel Saint, and others joined the Waorani community at Tewæno in 1958, Yowe became a Christian and later a leader in the Waorani church. Although he never learned to read, Yowe wrote the first Christian hymn set to traditional Wao music. His wife, Oba, assisted American missionary Catherine Peeke on the Wao Bible translation project.
